Das Zentralstadion wurde zwischen 1954 und 1956 unter der Leitung von Karl Souradny errichtet und 2004 grundlegend erneuert. Seit 2010 trägt das Stadion den Namen 'Red Bull Arena'. Das Stadion ist die Heimstätte des recht neuen Fußballvereins 'RB Leipzig', welcher im Jahr 2016 in die erste deutsche Bundesliga aufgestiegen ist.
Zur Fußball-Weltmeisterschaft der Herren 2006 fanden die folgen Partien in diesem Stadion statt:

The Zentralstadion was built 1954 -1956 under the direction of Karl Souradny and fundamentally renewed in 2004. Since 2010, the stadium is named 'Red Bull Arena'. The stadium is the home of the quite new football club 'RB Leipzig', which climbed up in 2016 to the 'erste deutsche Bundesliga'.
During the football World Championship for Men in 2006 the following games were held in this stadium:
