Am 13.08.2002 erreichte die Mulde ihren bisher höchsten Wasserstand und bescherte der Stadt Grimma das 'Jahrhunderthochwasser'. Das Wasser stand an dieser Stelle in der Brückenstraße bei 2,78m, womit die Erdgeschosse der umliegenden Häuser vollkommen überflutet wurden.

Neben dem Hochwasser von 2002 sind auch die Wasserstände von 2013 (mit 1,52m), 1771 (mit 1,01) und 1954 (mit 0,25m) eingraviert.
Wenige Meter neben der Säule an der Ecke Brückenstraße/Schlossgraben erinnern zwei Bilder an die Katastrophe von 2002.

On 13.08.2002 the 'Mulde' reached its highest water level and brought the city of Grimma the 'flood of the century'. At this point in the 'Brückenstraße' the water was at 2,78m, so that the ground floors of the surrounding houses were completely flooded.
