The plaque says, "The depot was built in 1894 as the second depot building in the City. Built in the Mission Revival style, it replaced the three-year-old wood, Victorian style depot originally built after the railroad came to San Juan Capistrano in 1887. The depot building marks the eastern end of the Los Rios Historic District."
