(ON PLAQUE) THIS MEMORIAL IS DEDICATED/ TO/ 617 SQUADRON/ ROYAL AIR FORCE/ THE DAMBUSTERS/ ON THE NIGHT OF 16TH/17TH MAY 1943 16 LANCASTERS TOOK/ OFF FROM SCAMPTON AIRFIELD AND SUCCESSFULLY/ BREACHED THE DAMS IN THE HEART OF INDUSTRIAL/ GERMANY. ALSO REMEMBERED HERE ARE THE 204 AIR/ CREW MEMBERS WHO GAVE OF THEIR LIVES 1943 - 1945/ (NAMES)
