According to the plaque Woldzigt mill was founded in 1852 by Aukema and Datama.
The actual construction is realized by millwright Albert Harms van der Heide from Leek.
The mill was built as an oil- mill.

A few years after the construction was a couple of millstones placed in the attic above the attic theorem (stone floor).

Opposite the mill is a small harbor. It was reconstructed in 2007.
The mill and the harbor have been very important for each other. Probably the harbor was there before.
Supply of flaxseed from Groningen and supply of linseed oil for the paint and soap industry in Groningen done through the water.
