Originally it was the National Guard Armory and most people refer to it as The Armory. Hockey as you can imagine is very big in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan so this rink is a very important part of the community.
"The Calumet Colosseum is currently owned by Calumet Township. This building was previously owned by the State of Michigan and occupied by the Calumet Detachment of the Michigan National Guard. At this time, the entire complex is controlled by Calumet Township and the Calumet Hockey Association. This facility will continue to be used as an ice arena, as well as a community center.
In August 2004, Residents of Calumet Township residents passed a 1 mill allocation to provide funding for operational expenses.
The Calumet Colosseum is a one-sheet facility with four large locker rooms. A concession stand is operated during both practice and game times." (
