EN: These remains of a Roman watchtower located in a forest on the banks of the Rhine north of Rheinfelden.
The tower was built around the year 370 under Emperor Valentinian as part of the border fortifications against the Alemanni north of the Rhine. The tower originally had a square base of about 15 meters each side. The greater part of the foundation walls are still standing.
The ruin is always accessible. There are no markers or signs on site.
DE: Diese Überreste eines römischen Wachtturms befinden sich in einem Wald am Rheinufer nördlich von Rheinfelden.
Der Turm entstand um das Jahr 370 unter Kaiser Valentinianus als Teil der Grenzverstärkung gegen die Alemannen nördlich des Rheins. Der Turm hatte ursprünglich eine quadratische Grundfläche von etwa 15 Metern Seitenlänge. Der grössere Teil der Grundmauern sind noch erhalten.
Die Ruine ist immer zugänglich. Es befinden sich keine Informationstafeln vor Ort.
