The Wesson Lion Fountain was given to the town of Northborough in 1882 by summer resident Daniel Wesson, co-founder of the firearms firm of Smith & Wesson. This unusual granite drinking fountain had water flowing from the head of a lion into a basin at ground level. The body of the lion has benches on either side with the feet of the lion forming the legs of the benches. The benches are complete with armrests. On the right side of the body is inscribed the year 1882. The fountain underwent a major restoration from 1991-1995 by Chris Coutu and the Northborough Village Improvement Society.
