The bridge carries Deighton Road over the Huddersfield Broad Canal and originally it was a stone single arch bridge built in 1780. When Huddersfield expanded and road traffic increased this bridge was widened and a new road deck added to the side of the original bridge.

At the same time concrete was laid on the towpath under the new deck. People were so keen to go under the bridge that they walked over the concrete before it was set.

There are two different type of shoe pints, a dog's paw prints and not be outdone by the walkers at least two cyclists tyre tracks.
