Die Landesvermessung in Sachsen hat eine lange Geschichte. Der Bolzen ist ein Relikt dieser Geschichte und kann auf etwa 1863 datiert werden. Zu dieser Zeit wurden in zahlreichen Nivellements Höhenfestpunkte bestimmt. Als Nivellement wird die Messung von Höhenunterschieden zwischen Punkten bezeichnet.
Der große Bolzen ist in ca. 30 cm Höhe rechts vom Haupteingang des Rathauses angebracht. Auf dem Bolzen sind die Worte "Königl. Sächs. Landesnivellement" (oben) sowie "Meter [..] Norm[..]" (unten) eingraviert. Der Bolzen weißt deutliche Gebrauchsspuren auf.

ENGLISH:
The state survey in Saxony has a long history. The bolt is a relic of this history and can be dated to about 1863. At this time, a lot fixed points were determined in numerous leveling.
The big bolt is installed in approximately 30 cm height at the right side of the main entrance of the town hall. On the bolt the words "Königl. Sächs. Landesnivellement" (up) and "Meter [..] Norm[..]" (down) are engraved. The bolt shows clear signs of use.
