The bronze statue of a Czech writer, Jaroslav Hašek (1883 – 1923), was casted already in 1989 according to design of a Czech sculptor, Josef Malejovský (1914 – 2003). After 20 years in depository the statue found its place at last in village Lipnice nad Sázavou near its cemetary, where the famous writer is burried. Just in the small and nice village he spent the last three years of his life and just here he wrote his most famous novel "The Good Soldier Schweik". A bit over-life size statue of Jaroslav Hašek depicts his sitting of a rock in a very simple suit - a shirt, trousers with braces suspenders and shoes. The statue is put on a low prismatic granite plinth with author's gildid signature on the front part of the plinth.

was a Czech humorist, satirist, writer and anarchist best known for his novel "The Good Soldier Švejk" (Czech: Osudy dobrého vojáka Švejka za svetové války), an unfinished collection of farcical incidents about a soldier in World War I and a satire on the ineptitude of authority figures, which has been translated into sixty languages. He also wrote some 1,500 short stories. He was a journalist, bohemian, and practical joker.

Asteroid No 2734 Hasek

The asteroid No 2734 was named after Jaroslav Hašek by Russian astronomer Nikolay Stepanovich Chernykh who discovered it on April 1st 1976 at Crimean Astrophysical Observatory. Diameter of the asteroid is about 26 kilometers.
