The conservatory, patterned after Thomas Jefferson's Monticello, was built in 1904 on Belle Isle in Detroit, MI. The conservatory covers 13 acres and includes permanent displays of cacti, ferns, palms and one of the largest collections of orchids in the country. The conservatory grounds also include formal perennial gardens, annual flower beds, a rose garden, and lily pond garden.
