Francis Gymnasium was the venue for the indoor sporting events of the 1904 Olympics including wrestling, fencing, boxing and gymnastics. Basketball was played as an exhibition sport during the 1904 Olympics in the gymnasium. The Gymnasium was considered one of the most modern for its time. It is still used as gymnasium for Washington University.
