Officially Post 2150, it sits just north of University Drive off Church Street, across from the North Texas Job Corps campus. Formed in 1936, the post got its building about 10 years later. Now, 265 members make up the post – some from Prosper and Melissa, forced to close their posts in past years, and others from Plano and Allen.
The post is part of the state VFW’s District 1, which includes much of North Texas. There are more than 1.5 million VFW members around the world, Nichols said. Some 100 local residents are part of Post 2150’s men’s and ladies’ auxiliaries – those with direct family lines to an overseas conflict.
