The 10,000 million litre Cowarra Off-Creek Storage Dam, completed in 2001, is a multi award-winning facility. It is located 5 kilometres south-east of Wauchope in the Cowarra State Forest.

"The Cowarra "Off-Creek" Storage Dam is part of the Hastings District Water Supply Augmentation Scheme. The picnic area and cultural display is open to the public daily. Gas barbecues, under-cover seating and toilet facilities are available. The dam, which is four times larger than Port Macquarie Dam, will not only progressively cater for the region's growing population, but also more significantly protect the biodiversity and health of the Hastings River."
