Also called Nahuku, Thurston Lava Tube, is located in the rain forest ecological zone. The abundant rainfall contributes to the lush growth of the forest canopy trees and the understorey vegetation.

Ohia lehua trees, tree ferns, happyface spiders, predatory caterpillars and tree snails are flora and fauna species described on the information sign.

The red flowers on our fourth picture are from the Ohia lehua tree and the last picture shows the tree ferns.
