Mayor Norris Gerhart

This is a huge building for a city this size. There are no signs to say so, but the Police Department is also housed in this building.
Also houses the local Chamber of Commerce, also with no sign to tell you so
On first impression one would guess this was an enclosed mall, or maybe an elementary school, but no it is city hall.
Three story high central portion opens to a large foyer with almost full face glass frontal. Pitched roof over the center with wings jotting out from each side
This brick building was erected in 2005 and the corner stone laid by Grand Lodge of Missouri AF&AM

"California is well known as “Small Enough to Know You, but Big Enough to Serve You!!

"California is a small town with strong family values, great community spirit, and an award winning school district, career center, and churches of nearly every denomination. At the same time, we are located only 15 minutes from Jefferson City, Missouri’s state capital. and approximately 45 minutes from Columbia.

"The City is lucky to have a host of civic and service organizations for people of all ages. Youngsters can participate in scouting, 4-H, FFA, school and church activities. For adults and seniors, there are the California Nutrition Center, Lions Club, Kiwanis, VFW, American Legion, and Chamber of Commerce among many others.

"The California R-I School district has an outstanding academic program and a variety of sports programs available." ~ City Hall Web site
