(Raymund Fobes)

EN: Among the common liturgical events of Remagen and parish pastors on the Apollinarisberg heard the Cross, which takes place every year during Lent.
Since 1864 exist on pilgrimage from the Fürstenbergstraße to Apollinariskirche fourteen Stations of the Cross, but most of them have been renewed over the decades. Thus, only the last three stops from the first crossroads, the stations 1 bis11 are from a later time.
Designed was the original Crossroads of artist Jacob Michels. It was inaugurated on 25 March 1865th The crucifixion scene with John and the Blessed Mother who Pieta with the Crucified on her lap and the holy grave, so the stations 12 to 14, are still preserved. They still give a good insight into the form and design of other stations.
In 1963, we now commissioned the sculptor Max shower of Oberammergau with the construction of a new Cross. From him, the existing now stations 1 to 11 representing the Passion of Christ by modern bronze sculptures originate. This Way of the Cross was inaugurated on the first Sunday of Appolinariswallfahrt 1964, the year in which the 800th anniversary of the transfer of the relics Apollinaris was committed.
