Hawks Tor trig pillar sits on Bodmin Moor, nearest town being Bodmin. It sits overlooking a now abandoned China Clay pit which has flooded and provides space for sailing etc. When the pit was working it used to produce some fine specimens of Cornish Amethyst, very small pieces of which can still be found if you are lucky enough on the now overgrown tips.
