The American Legion Monument (erected in 1969) was repair and upgraded with an Eternal Flame by the Rotary Club in 2004
The plaque is mounted on a flat grey granite wall with two small columns on each end, resembling a miniature of the Army Engineer insignia. Atop each column is a christian cross on the N. side and a eternal flame within a lamplighter lantern.

In honor of the brave men from Cedartown and Polk County, Georgia who gave their lives during time of war so we might remain a free nation under God. May they not have died in vain. March 15, 1969
