Long Description:
In 1971 this bur oak died from root fungus and fell over from the weight of its own acorns. It is 15 feet around and 55 feet tall. This section was cut in 1976. The growth center is offset toward the north side of the tree. This is because the leaves on the south side get more sunlight, which powers more photosynthesis so the south side gets more nourishment.
