This building was located about .1 miles from where it is today. It operated as the Smith Union Bank from 1805 until 1851. The then present bank transferred it operation to Woonsocket. The building was moved to its present location and it became a residence in 1851.

It is listed in the American Guide series, Rhode Island - A Guide to the Smallest State and part of the Union Village Historic District.
