DE:Schloss Schweppenburg wird als Burg bereits 1365 erstmals erwähnt. Zusammen mit der heute noch arbeitenden Schweppenburger- oder Mosenmühle gerät sie als kurkölnisches Lehen im Jahre 1377 in den Besitz des Andernacher Schöffen Arnold von Schweppenburg. Sie erhielt ihre heutige Gestalt im Stil des Barocks durch einen Umbau in den Jahren 1637 bis 1639 unter Bertram von Metternich. Die alte wehrhafte Burganlage, die bis dahin noch als Wirtschaftsgebäude gedient hatte, ist im Jahr 1785 niedergelegt worden. Seit 1716 befindet sich das Schloss durch Kaufvertrag im Besitz eines Zweiges der Kölner Patrizier-Familie von Geyr (in Köln auch Gir), der sich dann nach der Burg Geyr von Schweppenburg nannte.

It received its present form in the Baroque style by a reconstruction in the years 1637 to 1639 under Bertram von Metternich. The old fortified castle that had served previously as farm buildings, has been laid down in the year 1785th Since 1716 the castle is located by the purchase agreement in the possession of a branch of the Cologne patrician family of Geyr (in Cologne also Gir), which then was called to the castle of Geyr Schweppenburg.
