The pegasus is a little smaller than a pony, riding a blue cloud (note the shades) atop a gray base. The tail and mane are red, while the rest of the pegasus is silver. According to the Advocate magazine of Preston Hollow, (
visit link) "Robin Oldham of Smashing Times, Inc. created the shimmering Pegasus in Preston Royal Village in 2001. Oldham was a part of a citywide art initiative to design Pegasus figures to represent Dallas. Henry S. Miller sponsored the mosaic for about $6,500."

In Greek mythology, Pegasus was sired by Poseidon (as a horse deity) upon the Gorgon, Medusa, and was born with his brother, Chrysaor, when Perseus decapitated Medusa. He carried Bellerophon in his fight against the Chimera, and was also Bellerophon's steed when he dared to ascend to Olympus to join the gods. Bellerophon was bucked off to his death when Zeus sent a fly to bite Pegasus, and ultimately, Pegasus joined the gods and became the carrier of Zeus's thunder and lightning.
