Every year the City of Northampton holds a First Night Festival of the Arts on December 31st to celebrate the upcoming new year. This signature event is sponsored by Center for the Arts and Peoples Bank. It features a wide array of entertainment presented by local talented performers. Fireworks begin after sundown, at about 6 pm, and at midnight the earth globe RISES from the top of the Hotel Northampton to signal the arrival new year.
The earth globe accurately depict the earth's landmasses and oceans. It's fabricated of steel and stainless steel and lit by LED lights.
