This piece is set to the proper left of the infantry group (in the front), with the standing figure and coat of arms in the center. One of several statuary groups to comprise Lincoln's Tomb.
Dimensions: Approx. H. 8 ft. 8 in.
Inscription: L. G. MEAD/AMES FOUNDRY/CHICOPEE signed Founder's mark appears.
Sixty-five old cannons were donated by the Federal Government to be melted down for casting materials for these pieces. This piece is one of six pieces on the monument done by Larkin G. Mead. The cost of this piece was $13,700.
