From the Chicago Park District's website (visit link) "Palmisano Park, formerly known as Stearns Quarry, is a 27-acre site on Chicago’s southwest side, in the heart of the Bridgeport community. Its story is one of transformation, as it has changed from coral reefs to quarry to landfill to park."

As you walk up the path to the highest point, you can see the 15 emerging Buddhas. The Chicago skyline forms a striking backdrop.

The park is located at 27th & S. Halsted and features a wonderful walking path and prairie.
Text on Monument/Memorial Sign or Plaque:
To artist Indira Freitas Johnson, these sculptures, when placed in unexpected public places, become a global symbol of peace. The installation is an invitation to reflect on the possibility of finding peace in our lives and in our communities...The Chicago Park District and the City of Chicago host this initiative. 2012
