An early road (the future Greenwood Avenue) passed through this location when the railroad first reached Bend in 1912. This low undercrossing was constructed at that time across this low point along the railroad grade.
Notice that the original steel supports are well above the road level. Over the years as vehicles grew larger many trucks hit this bridge and the roadway was deepened to accomodate larger vehicles.
