Jádrem evropsky významné lokality je bezodtoká vodní tun vzniklá v míste opušteného lomu, která je biotopem colka velkého. Tento obojživelník je jediným predmetem ochrany této evropsky významné lokality. Geologický podklad území tvorí souvrství morského spodního karbonu (kulm, bridlice, droby)

At the core sites of European importance is a closed water pool formed at the site of an abandoned quarry, which is a habitat of great crested newt. This amphibian is the sole subject of protection of sites of European importance. The geological base area consists of layers of marine Lower Carboniferous (Culm, slate, offal)
