This bridge was built in 1860, and the date has been incorporated into the brick construction on both sides of the arch using blue bricks.

The bridge is a Grade II listed structure and is considered one of the finest brick-built single span (at 90 feet) bridges in the country.

It has been recently refurbished/renovated by LaFarge at a cost of £30,000. It hasn't carried any trains since the 1950s but continues to carry LaFarge's mineral conveyor which connects the quarries with the LaFarge railhead at Barrow-upon-Soar.
