The South Mission Quadrangle is almost untouched by time, with many of the original foundations, adobe bricks and old tiles on display.
The sign reads as follows:
"SOUTH CORNER OF MISSION QUADRANGLE
This great patio of the mission compound extended 320 feet West, 650 feet North, 257 feet East, then 650 feet South to this point.
Finished in 1806 of Adobe with tiled roofs and wide porches carried on square brick columns, the quadrangle contained the habitation of the Padres and of the mayor-domo, workshops, storerooms, waiting rooms, Carpenter shops, the “monjero,” (quarters for the unmarried women), guest rooms, reception rooms, and infirmary.
Note original tiled floor, stone and rubble foundations were Adobe walls, door openings, and rock bases for square porch columns."
