Milton Bradly is buried in a family plot in Springfield Cemetery in Springfield, MA. The family plot consists of a monument surrounded by a low wall that contains the graves. The granite monument is inscribed BRADLEY and it contains, in addition to Milton Bradley, the names and dates of his father - Lewis, mother - Fanny and his first and second wife Vilona and Ellen - . Milton Bradly appears on the top of the second column. upper right is inscribed.

Milton Bradley developed the Checkered Game of Life, later change to The Game of Life, a board game that he used to launch the Milton Bradley Company in 1860. That company went on to produce hundreds of other games that made Milton Bradley a household name.

Milton Bradly was born in Vienna, ME on November 8, 1836. He became a draftsman and patent agent after finishing high school and, in 1860, set up the first color lithography shop in Springfield, MA. It was from here he developed and marketed the highly successful board game Checkered Game of Life.

Because of his interested in children's education he published two magazines, Kindergarten News (later Kindergarten Review), and Work and Play. During the 1890s, the Milton Bradley Company had introduced the first standardized watercolor sets as well as and educational games such as Bradley's Word Builder and Bradley's Sentence Builder. He also was first to release crayon packages with standardized colors, produce a new color wheel, and publish four books about teaching colors. He holds nine US patents for his inventions.

The Milton Bradley Co. is now a subsidiary of Pawtucket, RI based firm Hasbro.
