The small museum at Mission San Gabriel is worth an hour easily - there are a LOT of cool things here to see.
One display tells the tale of the first movie shot on location at Mission San Gabriel, in 1910:
"The Thread of Destiny: 1910
DW Griffith
starring Mary Pickford
This was the first picture that was began and completed out West. The San Gabriel Mission served as the location. Griffith was the first to use early carbon lights for interior shots."
