It was built by local fishermen in the area of Lonjas, where the fish markets used to be.
It was financed by fees for fishing off the coast of Africa.
A small date stone above the entrance indicates it was constructed in 1891, and is still in use today.
It is dedicated to the feast day of the Holy Cross on the 3rd May.
