The park is about the size of a square block. There is a traditional cache in the park, near the south end and a monument in the center dedicated to ship builders. The Shipbuilder was sculpted in 2004 by Michael Curtis on Halloween. He donated it to the city of Alexandria. The sculpture is about 8 feet tall on a pink granite base, facing towards downtown Alexandria. The back of the sculpture is facing Washington, D.C. to the Potomac River. The sculpture depicts a shipbuilder from the early days of Alexandria, when it was still part of Washington DC and the federal government used the land here as a place to build warships. The park overlooks the Potomac River into Washington, DC.
