The village sign of Brisley. It is positioned next to the church and faces the B1145 road, which runs through the village.
The name Brisley is from Old English - briosa for "gadfly" (horsefly) + leah, "woodland clearing."

The sign shows us Richard Taverner b Brisley 1505, d Oxon 1575
Imprisoned in the Tower of London by Henry VIII 1541 for failing to pass on a report that Anne of Cleves was pregnant with the King's child after their divorce, but released shortly after. (visit link)
