The Trail of 100 Giants is the most popular attraction in the Giant Sequoia National Monument, and it's easy to see why. The trail is easy to get to, it's short, flat, and paved, and it's got a lot of really impressive trees.

Giant Sequoia from the Trail Base of a Giant Redwood Looking Up the trunk of a Giant Redwood

At 1:11 PM on Friday, September 30, 2011, two giant redwood trees conjoined at the base for the first thirty feet, fell across the trail. This was captured on a Youtube video by a German tourist on the trail. On October 22, another YouTube video shows the trail opening to the public to examine what had happened and what to do to reopen the trail.

The trail's name notwithstanding, there are in fact maybe 20 really big trees along the trail. Some of them are truly impressive. That's actually pretty good for a trail of this length.
From the US Forest Service website:
The grove contains approximately 125 giant sequoias greater than 10 feet in diameter, and more than 700 giant sequoias less than 10 feet in diameter. The largest tree in the grove has a diameter of 20 feet and is 220 feet in height. It is estimated that the ages of the larger giant sequoia trees in the grove are up to 1,500 years old.
