Among the shops of the Village Common is this unusual fountain that features frogs and lily pads. It is actually a tribute to then president of nearby Mt. Holyoke College, Dr. Elizabeth Kennan. A 2' high by 6' diameter bronze basin is filled with the bronze sculptures of lily pads and frogs. Water bubbles up from the center of the basin. The connection to Dr. Elizabeth Kennan is inscribed on the rim of the basis: FINER THAN FROGS' HAIR LIZ KENNAN 1989

Elizabeth Topham Kennan, class of 1960, was the first alumna to become president of Mount Holyoke College since the 19th century. She served as the College’s sixteenth president from 1978 to 1995.
