Das Gebäude war das ehemalige Pfarrhaus (das Münster von Villingen liegt direkt gegenüber), welches erst später zum Rathaus "umfunktioniert" wurde. Der Bau datiert zurück ins 16. Jahrhundert.

Originally, he building on the left was the living place of the priest (the cathedral of Villingen is just opposite of the town hall), the buiding was later transformed into the town hall. The oldest parts of the building date back to the 16th century.
