A charter 1090 from the Abbey of Marmoutier (near Tours) calls the church "Sancti Andreae of Orenaio" as under its dependency. The parish itself dates from the eleventh century!
The early church (Venansault drive) was burned and looted by Protestants March 15, 1568 in the same spirit that touched the Abbey of Fontenelles. In 1794 the revolutionary army of General Miezkowsky still burned when the church following the uprising Ornaysiens.
What was left was used as a military hospital, housing, school, administrative home for the town or stable ...
From 1794 to 1853 the parish is without a place of worship. the faithful move to La-Roche-sur-Yon. A church building project appeared in 1841, leading to a rectangle 24 meters by 9 (instead of the current nave). The building is precarious. Several times, the church will be formed: 1841 1857 (spire and four pinnacles), 1894 and 1895 (by enlarging the transept and choir). The blessing is made on October 27, 1895. But in 1907 the council decided the demolition of the bell tower of the workmanship and construction of the present tower.
