MOSES S. HAYNSWORTH


Born Darlington District in 1845, this Confederate War veteran witnessed the firing attack on the Union steamer "Star of the West" as it attempted to reinforce Ft. Sumter Jan. 9, 1861. He participated in skirmishes at Tullifinny River near Yemassee Dec. 1864. Owner of this plantation "Idylwild," he died in 1928, and is buried in Florence, S.C.
