Mit dem Bau der Kirche St. Vitus wurde 1460 begonnen - zwischen den beiden Ortsteilen Ober- & Unterkritzendorf wurde dieser schlichte, ursprünglich frei stehende, spätgotische Saalbau mit vorgelagertem Westturm errichtet. Die Kirche wurde erst am 17. Mai 1489 durch Weihbischof Albert von Salona aus der Diözese Passau geweiht. 1783 erfolgte die Trennung von der Mutterpfarre St.Martin und seither ist St. Vitus eine eigenständige Pfarre und wird seit jeher durch die Augustiner Chorherren vom Stift Klosterneuburg pastoral geleitet.
Der Saalbau (heute Hauptschiff) und das Mauerwerk des Turmes blieben weitgehend unverändert. 1891 wurde der Turm erhöht und 1896 eine neugotische Sakristei, Seitenkapelle und das Pfarrhaus errichtet. 1962 und 1994 erfolgte die Restaurierung des Innenraumes. 1999 erhielt die Kirche eine weitere Glocke. 2013 erfolgte der Zubau des Vitussaals im Pfarrhof.
Vor dem Südportal von St.Vitus stehen die barocken Steinfiguren des Hl. Antonius von Padua und des Hl. Johannes Nepomuk. Im Inneren befinden sich Statuen der Maria Immaculata und des Hl. Johannes Nepomuk, über dem Altar hängt ein spätgotisches Kruzifixus. Der Altar wurde am Allerheiligentag 1992 geweiht.

The construction of the church of St. Vitus was started in 1460 - between the two districts of Ober- & Unterkritzendorf this simple, originally detached, late Gothic hall structure was built with a tower to the west. The church was consecrated on 17 May 1489 by Bishop Albert of Salona from the diocese of Passau. 1783 took place the separation from the mother parish of St. Martin and since then St. Vitus is an independent parish and has always been pastorally led by the Augustiner-Chorherren of Klosterneuburg convent.
The hall structure (now the nave) and the masonry of the tower remained largely unchanged. 1891 the tower was raised and 1896 a neo-Gothic sacristy, chapel and rectory were built. In 1962 and 1994 was the restoration of the interior. In 1999 the church received another bell. 2013 was carried out of the annex of Vitus hall in the rectory.
Nearby the south portal of St. Vitus are the baroque stone statues of St. Anthony of Padua and St. Johannes Nepomuk. Inside are statues of Maria Immaculate and St. Johannes Nepomuk, above the altar hangs a late Gothic crucifix. The altar was consecrated on All Saints' Day 1992.
