This airport is right behind Sam's Club, so it's a routine occurrence to load up your car with groceries to the sound of planes taking off or landing right over your head. It was the site of much local contention a few years ago, as the city council voted to close the air field. However, the locals put forth a campaign to keep it open, and so far they've been successful. Time will tell whether or not they'll stay successful - but for now, this friendly little air field will continue servicing the small-airplane owners of Fort Wayne and the surrounding area.
