The Lower Cape Cemetery is located on Hwy. 114 about 2 km south from the little village of Lower Cape. The Lower Cape Baptist Church is also at this location.

Though this very ornate gate is no longer used as the main entrance to the cemetery it most likely was at one time.
The gate is attached to a low wall made of large cast cement blocks of various sizes. On top is ornate filigree iron work that enhances the gate.
The gate is small about 4.5 feet in height and only about 2.5 to 3 feet wide. Inscribed is Resurgam: Latin for I Shall Rise Again. The gate is dated 1873. There is nicely presented scroll work encircling an angel with crossed arms and kneeling. She is gazing at a urn resting on a vault. Below is the same filigree iron work as above the wall.
