Fondée en 1313 par Hugues de Bouville et sa femme Marguerite, la chapelle Notre-Dame-de-Varennes est également connue sous le nom de « chapelle Sainte-Marguerite » à la fin du XVe siècle. Saint Vincent de Paul y célèbre la messe lors de ses séjours au Petit-Frenneville, hameau de Valpuiseaux, entre 1636 et 1649. Au XVIIIe siècle, la chapelle est à l'abandon. Elle n'a plus de titulaire et aucun revenu ne lui est attaché. Elle est vendue comme bien national en 1791. À l'état de ruine, elle fait l'objet d'une vaste restauration en 1862, avec construction d'une voûte en briques. En 1909 et 1910, elle fait l'objet de grands pèlerinages en mémoire de saint Vincent de Paul. Source (visit link)

Description architecturale :
De très petites dimensions, la chapelle Notre-Dames-de-Varennes adopte une architecture en pierre apparente et à plan rectangulaire simple surmontée d'un toit en bâtière tuilé. On pénètre dans la chapelle par une porte en arc plein cintre et l'édifice est ajouré par une baie en arc brisé.

A l'intérieur, la chapelle dispose d'une voûte en brique, dont les retombées reposent sur des culs-de-lampe sculptés de figures anthropomorphes. Source : (visit link)

Architectural description:
Very small, the Notre-Dames-de-Varennes adopts an apparent stone architecture and simple rectangular plan topped by a saddleback roof curled. One enters the chapel through a door round arch and the building is pierced by a pointed arch window.
