Blasterz think that they were all created at the same time. Although the dates of death differ, the hand writing and style of the tombstones themselves, and the yellow discoloration on them, are strikingly similar.
Five members of the Welborn family are buried together in this plot in section 5/3 of Oakwood Cemetery. Each has a homemade tombstone, which is why we are electing to waymark these family members together, instead of in five separate waymarks.
From left to right, back row, the tombstones read:
C. R. Welborn
12/31/1885
12/11/1962
George Welborn
1905
6-16-1921
From left to right, front row, the tombstones read:
Lue Welborn
10–31–1861
4-12-1935
B. A. Welborn
8-12-1858
9-6-1934
Minnie Garison
1890
1915
Obviously, from the visual evidence, the tombstone of Minnie Garrison, who is buried next to B. A. Welborn, seems out of place, even though the handwriting, the style, and the material of the tombstone is the same as for all the other Welborns in this same group.
So we did a little digging on ancestry.com, and found the death certificate for Minnie Garrison. she died of gastroenteritis on 28 June 1915 in Denton, Texas. The informant offered a certificate is her husband J. J. Garrison. he lists the names of her parents as B. A. Welborn and Mrs. Lue. So Minnie Garrison is BA & Lue Welborn's daughter, and she has been laid to rest in the Welborn family plot under homemade tombstones made for the Welborn family.
In just a few more moments of digging we were able to discern that B. A. and Lue Welborn were the parents of George Welborn, C[harles] Welborn, and Minnie (Welborn) Garrison.
