An act was passed on April 30, 1880 by the general assembly of New Brunswick to establish this cemetery. The cemetery is 3 acres in size and located within Albert County. There were 11 known burials that took place when the cemetery was first established. There are currently 830 known interments and it is still an active cemetery with the last known burials taking place in 2014.

There is a fairly new four section white fencing with a double opening gate which leads into the cemetery, the sign hangs above the gate. The rest of the cemetery is fenced with an open heavy wire mesh most likely hog tight fencing. The cemetery looked well maintained and is a lovely setting with very large trees around the perimeter.

We did located two zinc grave markers both much larger than we found in other cemeteries. One stands about 10 feet with a statue of a lady on top, very nice. This one has 6 members of the Reid family and the other is of the Stevens family there are 3 members listed.

These were the first known burials:

William Allan Bennett was born in 1854 and died in 1880
Horatio Allen Bishop was born in 1861 and died on July 14, 1880
Lois Amelia Bishop was born in 1869 and died on June 29, 1880
Charles Graves birth is unknown and died on November 19, 1880
Minnie Jones was born in 1877 and died in 1880
Annie Reid was born in December 1876 and died on October 9, 1880
A. E. J. Robinson was born in 1848 and died in 1880
Rebecca M. Smith was born in 1830 and died in 1880
Theadora L. Smith was born in 1870 and died on February 1, 1880
Elisha Stevens was born in 1804 and died on February 10, 1880
Ethel L. West was born in 1879 and died on September 28, 1880

In 1983 there were six grave markers moved to this cemetery, it is unclear if the remains of these departed souls were also moved.

They were moved from the Samuel West Farm and others were moved from New Norton Island Cemetery.

There are 36 individuals with the surname West and all most likely are related.
