Die Erfolgsgeschichte unserer "Offenen Bücherschränke" geht auf die Geschichte der Bürgerstiftung Bonn selbst zurück. Wir hatten im Jahr 2002 unter dem Motto "Stiften Sie eine Idee" zu einem Ideenwettbewerb aufgerufen. Die Bonner sollten Vorschläge machen, mit denen das gesellschaftliche und kulturelle Leben in Bonn verbessert werden könnte. Die Resonanz war überwältigend: Über 130 Ideen haben die Bürgerstiftung damals erreicht. Unter den Ideen war der Vorschlag für den "Offenen Bücherschrank" – eingereicht von Trixi Royeck, die damals Innenarchitektur an der Fachhochschule in Mainz studierte.
Das Prinzip der Offenen Bücherschränke ist ganz einfach: Die Bücher können problemlos mitgenommen, gelesen und zurückgebracht oder auch gegen andere Bücher eingetauscht werden – ganz ohne Leihfristen oder sonstige Bestimmungen. Alle sind herzlich eingeladen, ihre Bücher mitzubringen. Jedes Buch ist willkommen: Lustiges und Spannendes, Poesie und Fachliteratur.
Das unterste Fach ist für Kinderbücher reserviert.
Unsere Offenen Bücherschränke werden ehrenamtlich von Anwohnern betreut, die als Paten regelmäßig einen Blick auf den Inhalt und Zustand werfen. Wir danken allen "anonymen" Helferinnen und Helfern von Herzen!

The success story of our "open bookcases" goes back to the history of the Community Foundation Bonn itself. We had the motto "Instigate an idea" called in 2002 for a competition of ideas. The Bonner should make proposals to the social and cultural life in Bonn could be improved. The response was overwhelming: Over 130 ideas BürgerStiftung have reached that time. Among the ideas was the proposal for the "open bookcase" - Submitted by Trixi Royeck who then studied interior design at the University of Applied Sciences in Mainz.

The principle of open bookcases is very simple: The books can be taken along easily, read and returned or exchanged against other books - no loan periods or other provisions. All are welcome to bring their books. Each book is welcome: Funny and exciting, poetry and literature.
The bottom shelf is reserved for children's books.
Our open bookcases are volunteers supervised by local residents who throw as godparents regularly have a look at the content and condition. We thank all the "anonymous" helpers of the heart!
