The Trusetaler waterfall is the highest waterfall in the Thuringian Forest. It is located in the town of Brotterode-Trusetal and is not a naturally formed area of natural phenomenon but artificially created.

In 1865, the waterfall under the supervision of Baurat Specht was created by Trusetaler miners. Through a dam below Brotterodes part of Trusewassers is diverted from April to October and flows with a slight slope at Hübel mountain and half stone along. At a distance of 3.5 km there the artificial waterfall ditch winds natural and harmonious through the woodland. At the point where the Felsauftürmungen emerge particularly vividly and strikingly from volcanic activity, the water falls in three cascades thundering 58 meters in depth in a reservoir before it then makes its way in the actual riverbed. About 228 steps, guests can climb the waterfall.
