By mid June the Salmon Arm Community Garden was full of carrots, peppers, tomatoes and lots of others vegetables and herbs. I could smell the aroma of the dill in one of garden boxes.
The garden consists of approximately 18 raised planting boxes available for local residents to grow some of their own vegetables. A nominal fee is required for the annual use of the garden. Renters are required to maintain their gardens and encouraged to keep them weeded. Fall cleanup is a group effort and all organic materials are composed on site. A small shed with garden tools are available for those needing use of them.
Only organic materials and fertilizers are used and pesticides and herbicides are not allowed. This is to avoid cross contamination to nearby planter boxes.
